Q&A with Martin Bland, Commercial Director, StreamAMG

Published On: September 22, 2025 - Categories: Blog Meet The Team

With nearly 20 years of experience across sports tech, performance consultancy, broadcasting, and the gambling sector, Martin Bland brings deep industry insight to his role as Commercial Director at StreamAMG. He’s worked with leading sports leagues and global brands to deliver data-driven fan engagement and sustainable commercial growth. In this Q&A, he shares what drew him to the business, his vision for the future of streaming, and why people and partnerships are key to long-term success.

  1. Can you tell us a bit about your background and what brought you to StreamAMG?

I worked in the sports data and tech space for nearly 20 years, delivering world leading analytics and fan engagement solutions to the biggest sports leagues and media corporations in the world. I coupled my commercial roles during this time with delivering elite performance consultancy and also working in television. I then moved into the gambling sector, where for the last 3-years I've been partnering with the biggest gambling brands in the world to provide professional consultancy services that contribute to a more sustainable industry. The attraction of StreamAMG was threefold. Firstly, the company has really good people. Progressive and talented individuals who want to make a difference for our clients. The second is innovation. There is a real drive here to enhance how sports fans consume sports content. And the third is the quality of our partners. Super influential brands with whom we can work with to bring transformational benefits to the sports and entertainment industry.

  1. What does the role of Commercial Director entail at StreamAMG?

My role at StreamAMG is to ensure we contribute to the success of our partners' business. We will grow their consumer base, expand their global reach, help them attain greater brand value, and drive their revenue growth through monetisation of their assets.

  1. What have you observed or learned so far during your initial time with StreamAMG?

It's a team that is passionate about customer success, is invested in innovation, and has the benefit of a great group of companies that, collectively, offer brilliant value to our clients.

  1. You’ve worked across multiple industries and regions, what attracted you to StreamAMG and the streaming space in particular?

OTT, if not already, is the future of how sports fans consume sports content. To be at the forefront of that industry is very appealing. There is also so much more we can achieve, not just in sports, but across the gaming, media, and entertainment industries. It's an exciting time.

  1. What role do you believe live streaming and OTT will play in the future of sports and betting experiences?

Well, as I mentioned above, we all know OTT is a popular consumer platform that will only grow as advancement in tech allows for better experiences. Sports, media, entertainment, and gaming companies want to engage fans anywhere and everywhere, all over the world. OTT allows for that. It offers a great opportunity to engage fans outside of live events, in a very flexible and consumable environment. This all ultimately increases value for rights holders.

  1. Sustainability and people development have been key themes in your career. How do those values align with your vision for StreamAMG’s growth?

Absolutely! I am committed to empowering people and developing talent. If we look after our people, they will look after our customers. I want highly talented and hugely passionate people, who will provide for our clients the best service and consultancy possible, and who will develop the most trusting and creative relationships. We have a great foundation for that already at StreamAMG and, while it's important for our clients to know we have great tech and innovation, more importantly, I want them to know it's our people who will truly make their business thrive.

  1. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career, and do you still follow it?

I'm at my most content when I'm working with happy customers, who trust me and enjoy working with me and my team. I've always taken pride in customer success. It's so rewarding. To that end, the best advice I've had, and would continue to give is, "stay focused on the customer." That reflects our priorities and our values.

  1. Who inspires you, either in business or in life?

I've had the benefit of working with some great mentors and leaders in the past. Professionals who I really looked up to and who inspired me but, being a passionate sports fan, I'm inspired by great and iconic sporting achievements. There is so much we can learn in business from sport. Too many to mention but, if I had to pick one, it would be Man United's Treble in '99. That had all the hallmarks of the power of perseverance, teamwork, and leadership.
