This month, we get to know James Teague. In this Q&A, James talks about his career, his passion for sports, and his vision for the future of OTT. He also shares his favorite sporting moment and his thoughts on the biggest challenges and opportunities facing the streaming industry.

Describe your role at StreamAMG

Operations Manager within the Live Operations Department. I run our Planning and Delivery teams which oversee more than 12,000 events a year spanning every continent around the world and touching almost every sport you could imagine.

What's your favourite sport to watch?

Football. I had season tickets at Manchester United when I was young but I have grown up supporting FC United of Manchester since the breakaway in 2005 and followed the club home and away and even around Europe! Next stop the San Siro in June... I also enjoy watching American football, F1, boxing and MMA.

What's your favourite sport to play and why?

I played Rugby Union for the majority of my childhood and always loved it and I made some fantastic memories but playing sport can be hard with a young family so 5-a-side football and countryside walks are the biggest stretch for me now!

Who is your favourite sportsperson?

Hard to pick. I idolised a few when I was young. Jonny Wilkinson was one - a fantastic player and leader on the pitch and who could forget that drop goal in the world cup final plus we also share a birthday.

Favourite sporting moment?

Rochdale v FC United 5th Nov 2010, FA Cup 1st Round. League One v non-league with four divisions separating the teams we ended up 2-0 up at in the second half when the hosts brought the game back to 2-2. The winning goal in the fourth minute of extra time with an extra element of controversy as the striker nudges the ball out of the keepers’ hands and puts the winner away and seals our ticket to the 2nd Round. The final whistle brought pandemonium and pitch invasions and memories for a lifetime.

Favourite thing about your job?

The people are key to making any job but at StreamAMG we're lucky to have a fantastic blend of not just talent but brilliant people and personalities.

What three words would you use to describe StreamAMG?

Trusted, Reliable and Talented.

Favourite StreamAMG feature?

StreamPlay. Although on face value it can appear as just mechanism to schedule in your events, the features it offers for both event appearance and rights restrictions elevates it well beyond that.

What does the future of OTT look like?

OTT will be shaped by the fans. As the modern world evolves fans and audiences will want easier access and less gatekeeping, this means in some areas we will see more conglomeration of rights and in others, federations will look to use OTT platforms and providers with quick to market and best in class offerings to get their products to fans at ease. The key will be who can be trusted to deliver those rights.
