Four things we learned from ICE Totally Gaming 2018

By Published On: February 12, 2018 - Categories: Industry Insights Uncategorized

The StreamAMG team visited ICE Totally Gaming 2018 recently, one of the largest displays of land-based and online betting industry products, services and innovation in the world.

Here’s a glimpse of some of the tech trends that were on show this year.

Super-low Latencies

When it comes to betting every second counts. Punters want to be able to follow the action and place bets as close to the betting window closing as possible. However, many of today’s live video CDN services operate with end-to-end delays.

This is a challenge for all betting sectors (including live casino and live sports), but especially eSports where punters also expect to receive data-rich content to inform their plays. Without sophisticated end-to-end solutions, suppliers and their operators must share public data on games. This public data may be delayed at source by the tournament organisers or game publishers by whole minutes.

At ICE Totally Gaming we saw several innovative solutions proposed to improve latency and reduce delay. At StreamAMG we can integrate with content providers to provide streams with some of the lowest latencies in the industry. It’s all thanks to our custom-built specialised encoders and low-latency players, which come with optimised HLS delivery compatible with all the major operating systems for both mobile and desktop.

Custom-players for Live Casinos

In the online casino sphere, betting brands are fighting to establish themselves as the go-to live casino environment. Providers now offer cutting-edge branded players to their customers, aiming to recreate the atmosphere of a real high-end casino.

Custom-branded players help maximise brand engagement and bring the betting experience to life. Media Platform allows you to easily create and modify customised players to add branding, logos, and functionality.

Virtual or Reality

As betting becomes more and more advanced, Virtual Sports providers are closing the gap between gaming and reality. Virtual Sports offer a very strong content proposition to complement live sports, through which bookies can provide a true 24/7 betting opportunity to their end users.

We saw some genuinely impressive visual effects at ICE Totally Gaming, presenting some of the most famous events and athletes in sport. Photorealistic visuals will continue to be key to the sector, as Virtuals become increasingly real and dynamic. At StreamAMG we are making sure that Virtual Sports providers have industry-leading solutions for the best delivery of their content.

Live Sports

OTT technology has created ways for fans to stay in touch with a wider range of sports than ever before. It’s lead to a renaissance, because more and more clubs and leagues are beginning to develop and own OTT channels. StreamAMG has been busy helping sports organisations to reach fans with fantastic new ways to watch their favourite events.

For the betting sector this provides brand new opportunities to branch out into sports which were previously overlooked. This allows fans to engage with their favourite sport in a whole new way, using their knowledge and gamifying their experience. We predict that the sports portfolios of bookies will increase even further in this field.
