Introducing the return of Meet the Team! This month, we get to know OTT Wiz and Stream Team favourite David Miller; our senior technical services manager.

Describe your role at StreamAMG

I’m a senior technical services manager, which granted, is a bit of a mouthful. My role mainly comes down to helping our digital partners integrate our products to make some superb web, mobile and tv app experiences for a clients end users and I’m also lucky to account manage a few of our clients too. I get to manage a great team whilst doing so too.

What's your favourite sport to watch?

The next few answers are boring, as they are all football related. Football has always been my number one sport to watch. Although; saying that, I’ll jump on the bandwagon for any event which is absurdly hyped.

What's your favourite sport to play and why?

I’ve played football since I’ve been a kid, starting for the mighty Ulverston Rangers youth teams, then moving to Sunday pub leagues, playing for my college at university to now playing in 5 aside leagues. Shout out to Champagne Super Rovers 2019, PowerLeagues group b winners.

I try to run every now and again I’m not sure if that counts as a sport as its never fun.

Who is your favourite sportsperson?

You'll see from my sporting moment it was Gerrard. Right now though I'm a fan of Andy Robertson, I like sports people who have a personality.

Favourite sporting moment?

Steven Gerrard's Goal vs Olympiacos back in 2004. I was 12 at the time and football was my obsession. It was the final group game of the Champions League and I think we needed to either win 1-0 or by 2 clear goals to go through to the next round. Rivaldo scored first for Olympiacos and we managed to two back but still needed a 3rd to go through. In the final 5 minutes Gerrard did what he did so many times and carried the club into the knockouts with a long-range strike. The rest was history. Everything about that moment was pure poetry, from the situation we were in, the local boy who hit the back of the net, and of course the commentary… 'Mellor, lovely, cushioned header, for Gerrarrddd. oh, you beauty'.

Favourite thing about your job?

The people at any job make or break the experience, at StreamAMG you get to work with talented people to deliver excellent products.

What three words would you use to describe StreamAMG?

We’re fans, we’re smart and our products are reliable.

Slight cop out answers, but we are working on some brilliant innovations now which I’m sure our account and business teams can’t wait to share to our clients. If you had to push me though… our enrichment piece is a clever innovation where our systems can auto tag metadata on upload if you provide us with the video and side file of metadata.

What does the future of OTT look like?

OTT for sport will never beat being there in person or watching with your mates in the pub. I don't think it should aim to either. The near future will be open access, making sure all live events can be consumed. Then we build what the future is from there.
