Introducing the return of Meet the Team!

This month, we have the pleasure of getting to know a well-known point of contact for many of our clients and an avid Fulham fan. Join us in conversation with Tom Penney, Senior Account Manager at StreamAMG, as he shares his thoughts on the future of OTT and reveals his sporting hero - a rugby legend!

Describe your role at StreamAMG

As a Senior Account Manager, my focus is on helping our key accounts achieve their OTT goals. I advise them on how to engage their audience, develop revenue streams, and grow their market share in the highly competitive sports OTT landscape.

What's your favourite sport to watch?

Rugby is my favourite to watch. I enjoy the complexity of the game and the way there's always so much happening on the pitch, not just where the ball is.

What's your favourite sport to play and why?

Football is my favourite sport to play. I can hang around upfront just like Haaland. My finishing may not be as good, but I think my hair makes up for it!

Who is your favourite sportsperson?

My favorite sportsperson has to be Jonny Wilkinson. He's a phenomenal leader, a polyglot, and his work rate is just incredible.

Favourite sporting moment?

It has to be Fulham's 4-1 victory over Juventus in the Europa League 09/10. It's not often we get to play in Europe, let alone beat an Italian giant.

Favourite thing about your job?

I love the fact that I get to work across a wide range of sports and federations. Every OTT challenge or strategy is different, and I enjoy taking learnings from larger broadcasters and applying them to help smaller clubs improve their offerings.

What three words would you use to describe StreamAMG?

Agile, Adventurous, and Expansive.

Favourite StreamAMG feature?

StreamPlay is my favorite. Although it might look like a simple calendar function, it saves editing and operating teams a lot of time and effort when launching their video experiences. Without it, operators would have to work through the night to schedule and launch events across different time zones.

What does the future of OTT look like?

I believe federations and leagues are beginning to rethink their traditional rights deals with broadcasters, as viewer data from OTT services becomes a key consideration. This data will only enhance the value of the once-passive viewer who is now actively engaging across all areas of the digital property while consuming live content.

Thanks to Tom and we look forward to the next edition in April.
